How to create a menu shortcut (aka Custom Menu)?
Did you know that you can create a shortcut for your favorite (or just most frequently visited) menu, such as Quick Search and Quote Waiting Acceptance?
This is called a “Custom Menu” in SnapTracker. By creating a custom menu and assigning the menu at the user level, you are able to access the menu directly from the left navigation. It will save you time navigating from the main navigation to a module to access the menu. For example, a gatekeeper who frequently uses the Quick Search menu to inquire and shop for products may consider adding the custom menu directly onto the left navigation:
![]()
If a user visits SnapTracker to access only some menus (e.g. for accepting quotes, running certain reports etc.), you might also consider creating a shortcut to those menus for them.
Important note: A custom menu is not customer specific! It means that once you create a custom menu, the same menu is available for all SnapTracker Customers on the site. All you need to do is assign menu access at the User level.
Step-by-step instructions
1. Identify the menu id of the page for which you want to create a shortcut.
You can do this by accessing the menu, and looking for the information in the web address. You are looking for the menu id that follows DefaultX.aspx?.
![]()
2. Go to Utilities > User Setup > Custom Menu.![]()
3. In Customer Menu Setup, create a menu to be the shortcut. Pay special attention to:
- If you want the menu to be accessible from the main navigation, select Main Navigation in the second “Select a Root Menu”. You can also set up the display sequence of the shortcut menu. (o means first on the list)

- Select Custom HTML in Select a Menu Type.
4. Copy and paste the following script into the Custom HTML textbox:
<script lang=’javascript’>window.open(‘DefaultX.aspx?IMN_Id=2&IMN_Root_Id=1‘,’_self’)</script>
Make sure to replace the red section with the menu id identified in step 1.
![]()
5. Click Create.
The menu is now created. If you are a System Administrative user, the newly created menu now displays in your main navigation. ![]()
If you want other users to have access to the Custom Menu, you need to assign the menu to your users in the User Menu Access screen (accessed through Utilities > User Setup > Menu Access).
Note: When creating a shortcut to an existing SnapTracker menu, you still need to ensure the user has access to the original menu
