How to Copy a User’s Access Settings
User settings or access are assigned individually per user. They may also be copied over to another user to quickly grant a standardized set of user access settings, such as Menu Access, Customer Access, Building Access, Catalog Access, etc. User settings may also be mass copied to all Users in your SnapTracker site.
Before starting, make sure:
- You are logged in to SnapTracker.
- You are a System Administrator or Administrator.
- You have Menu Access to User Setup.
- You have an existing User with user settings you want to copy from.
- You have at least one User you want to copy settings to.
This post outlines how to copy a User’s access settings from one user to another.
1. In the header section, click Utilities.

The Copy To option is available in the following screens under User Setup:
- User (and all associated tabs).
- Menu Access.
- Customer Access.
- Building Access.
- Catalog Access.
- Address Access.
The steps outlined below are the same in any of these screens.

2. Click the arrow beside User Setup, then click Menu Access.
Note: You can copy a User’s settings from most other User Setup screens also.

The Menu Access screen displays.
Note: This screen is undergoing redesign in the new SnapTracker interface. As such, this screen currently displays the existing Legacy design until complete.

3. In the Select a User dropdown, select the User to copy settings from.
Alternatively, in the Enter a User field, enter the User’s ID and click Get Record.

4. Click Copy To.
Note: Copy To only displays after a User is selected.

The Copy User Settings pop-up displays.

5. From the Please select a section you would like to copy, determine what access you intend to copy to the other User(s).
By default All are selected.
If you want to copy all sections to the other User(s), leave the All checkbox selected.
If you want to copy specific sections to the other User(s), deselect the checkboxes you do not want to copy.
6. Filter the Users to find the User(s) you want to copy access to.
One filter or a combination of filters can be applied to get the desired results.
- Select a User Type – Select ALL or a specific User Type to filter the Users.
- To get a full list of all Users, in the Select a User Type dropdown, ensure All is selected.
- To filter the results by a specific User Type, from the Select a User Type dropdown, select the User Type.
- Search By – Select a field to search for a keyword in to identify the User. Options are:
- Name.
- Email.
- SnapTracker User Id.
- Enter Search Text – Combined with Search By. Type in a value to search for in the selected field.
7. Make your selections using the corresponding sections. Click Search.
The filtered Users display.

8. To select individual Users to copy access to, click the checkbox for the desired User(s).

9. Click Copy.

A confirmation message displays.
Click OK.

The access is copied to the selected User(s) and a message displays telling you what was copied over.

You also have the option to copy the access to all other Users in SnapTracker by clicking Copy to All. This is not typically recommended as the access is copied to all existing users, overwriting existing access. This could also include your own access and those of any other Administrators or System Administrators on the site.
10. Click Close.
The Copy User Settings pop-up screen closes.

Note: There is no Undo button. If changes are made that you want to reverse, you need to update the access, then you can copy it to Users again.
