How to Create, Edit, and Delete Buildings

 

Buildings in SnapTracker organize all inventory across your Customers. The Building screen lists all Buildings you operate for clients and your own warehouse facilities. Each Building is associated to an existing Building Type, which categorizes the Building you’ve created. Specific Locations are created within Buildings to record where the product is stored.

The Building screen enables you to manage the Buildings across your site. Buildings are set up once and accessible to all Customers on the site. The Building screen enables you to conduct a search through all existing Buildings to view details and last update dates. You may create, edit, or delete a Building as desired. Note: A Building can only be deleted when it is empty, and no Locations or Location Types exist.

Before starting, make sure:

  • You are logged into SnapTracker.
  • You have access to the Setup – Building screen.

This post outlines how to create, edit, and delete Buildings in your SnapTracker site.

 

1. In the header section, click Setup.

Note: Depending on your browser, you may need to click the View menu items icon to see Setup.

 

2. Click the arrow beside Building Setup, then click Building.

 

Another way to access the Building screen is to navigate to the Setup main screen.

From here, select Building Setup.

From here, select Building.

Summary information for the Buildings displays on the screen.

Note: By default, the results display according to the default filters, showing Buildings in ascending order.

 

Observe the fields in the results:

  • All – Select the checkbox of the desired Building(s), or select All, to complete a bulk action.
  • Building – The Building ID.
  • Building Name – The name of the Building.
  • Building Type – The Building Type associated with the Building.
  • Last Update Date – The last date any changes were made to the Building and the User that completed the update.
  • Actions – Available actions for an existing Building. The options are Edit or Delete.

Note: Additional information for each Building is available when you add or edit a Building.

 

3. To create a new Building, click Add.

Note: You can only create one Building at a time. The Add button becomes disabled until the new Building is created or the action is canceled.

 

A new, empty record displays in the results table.

 

Observe the fields to input in for the new Building:

  • Building – (Required) The unique Building ID. (Maximum 16 characters).
  • Building Type – (Required) The Building Type associated to the Building.
  • Name 1 – The first name field for the Building. (Maximum 30 characters).
  • Name 2 – The second name field for the Building. (Maximum 30 characters).
  • Address 1 – The first address field for the Building. (Maximum 30 characters).
  • Address 2 – The second address field for the Building. (Maximum 30 characters).
  • City – The city the Building is in. (Maximum 20 characters).
  • State – The state the Building is in. (Maximum 20 characters).
  • ZIP – The ZIP code for the Building. (Maximum 10 characters).
  • Country – The country the Building is in. (Maximum 20 characters).
  • Contact 1 – The first contact person for the Building. (Maximum 30 characters).
  • Phone 1 – The first contact’s phone number. (Maximum 13 characters).
  • Contact 2 – The second contact person for the Building. (Maximum 30 characters).
  • Phone 2 – The second contact’s phone number. (Maximum 13 characters).
  • Fax 1 – The first contact’s fax number. (Maximum 13 characters).
  • Fax 2 – The second contact’s fax number. (Maximum 13 characters).
  • Smart Key Indicator – The Smart Key Indicator. (Maximum 13 characters).
  • Registration Number – The Registration Number. (Maximum 16 characters).
  • In Use Indicator – Indicates whether or not the Building is in use. Note: This influences whether the products in this Building show up for inquiry searches and movements.
  • Transfer To Building – Indicate whether or not the Building qualifies as a transfer building for orders.

Note: The required fields are indicated by an asterisk.

 

4. To create a new Building, populate the desired fields and click the checkmark icon or Create.

 

If any required fields are missing, the missing field is highlighted and Required displays below.

An error message displays, indicating that all required fields need to be entered.

 

If a Building already exists with the same Building ID, an error banner displays, indicating that the Building already exists.

 

If the new Building is created successfully, a success message displays.

 

5. To edit a Building, click the Edit icon for an individual Building, or select the checkbox of the desired Building and click the global Edit button.

Note: You can only edit one Building at a time.

 

If multiple buildings are selected for edit, an error message displays.

 

The selected Building changes to Edit mode, where editable fields are enabled.

Note: The Building field is disabled because it is a primary key and cannot be modified after creation. If the field is incorrect, delete and re-create a new Building.

 

6. Edit the desired fields.

To save the changes, click the checkmark icon for an individual Building, or click the global Update.

To cancel, click Cancel or the X icon for an individual Building.

 

The Building updates with the applied changes and the success message displays.

 

7. To delete a Building(s), select the checkbox(es) beside the desired Buildings and click the global Delete, or click the individual trash icons.

Note: A Building can only be deleted when it is empty, and no Locations or Location Types exist in it.

8. To delete the selected Building(s), click Yes.

To cancel the delete, click No or X.

 

If the Building is in use and deletion fails, an error message displays.

 

If the deletion is successful, a success message displays.
