How to Set Up a Buildup/ Workstation

A Buildup is a group of Standards put together to create a more complete item. A panel system made up of frames and tiles is a good example of a Buildup.

A Workstation, on the other hand, allows the grouping of many Standards and Buildups to form a typical Workstation.

This tutorial post outlines the process of creating a Buildup and adding the composition of the Buildup. You can set up a Workstation following the exact same process. Make sure to select Workstation as Standard tier when creating the Standard

Step-by-step instruction

Creating a Buildup-tier Standard

First, create a Standard for the Buildup as you would for creating a single item Standard.

From the main navigation bar on the left, select Setup, Standard Setup and Standard Product.

Note that the fields with red triangles are mandatory and must be filled out.

Make sure the correct Customer Number is selected using the Select a Customer drop-down selection box on the top right corner.

Type in the new Standard you wish to create for the Buildup in the Enter a Standard box. Note that the Standard must be unique and cannot already exist for the selected Customer.

You can then enter the following information regarding the Buildup Standard:

  • Standard Class
  • Standard Tier – Make sure to select Buildup under Standard Tier.
  • Inventory Type
  • Catalog No.
  • Manufacturer
  • Catalog ID
  • Standard Description
  • List Price
  • Default Discount %

Select Create. The Buildup Standard is created.

Building the Composition

After the Buildup Standard is created, we can proceed to assign Standards to the Buildup. This is done on the Standard Options and Finishes screen. Just as you can use this screen to assign Options and Finishes composition to a single-item Standard, you can also use this screen to assign single-item Standards to a Buildup.

 

From the main navigation bar on the left, select Setup, Standard Setup, Options and Finishes.

Typing in the Buildup Standard or doing a Standard Search using the Enter a Standard box.

If using the Standard Search, choose Tier: Buildup to narrow the search.

Select the check-box next to the Buildup you would like to assign compositions and click Assign at the bottom the page.Buildup2_SnapTracker

 

The Buildup Standard appears on the Options and Finishes screen.

Click Search located beside the Composed of field.

The Standard Search screen displays as a pop-up screen.

Use the Standard Class drop-down selection box to help narrow down the Standards.

Select the check-box beside the Standard you would like to assign to the Buildup. Click Assign.

The standard selected then appears in the Composed of box.

Repeat the process to assign all standards that make up the Buildup.

Click Append. The Standards have been assigned to the Buildup.

 

You can see the composition of the Buildup on the Product Detail screen.

Tips

While you can import product as Buildup tier Standards via Sif Import, it does not create the Buildup grouping automatically. It means that you will still need to assign Standards to the Buildup-tier Standard using the Standard Options and Finishes screen.

To set up a Workstation ,follow the exact same process. Make sure to select Workstation as Standard tier when creating the Standard. You may assign single-item Standards and Buildup-tier Standards to a Workstation.
