Global Adjustment: Introduction
What does the Global Adjustment screen do?
The Global Adjustment screen enables you to globally search and replace data in certain fields within specific SnapTracker tables. In other words, you can modify a large quantity of records quickly in the screen. Data can be modified directly on the result screen, or be exported into an Excel spreadsheet for additional review and modification.
Sounds powerful? Yes indeed – that’s why we always recommend that it needs to be used with caution!
What tables are available in the screen?
Tables available in the Global Adjustment screen include:
- Address Information
- Item
- Item Supplemental (Item Userfields)
- Item Maintenance
- Item Transaction
- Standard
- Standard Attributes
- Standard Class
- Standard Custom Attributes
- Standard Min Max Quantities
- Standard Procurement
- Standard Relation
While you can adjust one table at a time in the Global Adjustment screen, within that table you can update multiple fields at the same time.
Where to find the screen?
You can access the Global Adjustment screen from Utilities > Maintenance > Global Adjustment.
When to use Global Adjustment?
The screen is designed to enable you to modify a large quantity of records at once. For example, you may want to modify the Active Flag to be non-active for a large sum of Standards. Instead of going into the Standard Setup screen and modifying Standards one at a time, you can use Global Adjustment instead.
Note: If you set the Active Flag to be non-active using Global Adjustments, you cannot use the same method to set the Standards as active again.
There is also an extensive list of filters that enable you to target specific information. By selecting the filters you can greatly reduce the number of records retrieved for modification.
